SOPREFA, Manufacturer of safety covers for swimming pools
SOPREFA is a company based in Sta. Maria da Feira (Portugal), specialized in the extrusion of plastic materials.
Taking advantage of the experience acquired in the transformation of these materials, Soprefa decided to diversify and in 2004 seized the opportunity in a fast-growing segment in France, the protection of swimming pools.
Thus, Soprefa decided to invest in the manufacture of swimming pool safety covers to meet the growing demand. In 2005 Soprefa had the covers approved in France according to the standard ® NFP 90-308 and created the brand SAFESWIM, whose symbol aims to represent leisure, comfort and safety.
Our solutions
Soprefa has developed its range of pool protection systems.
Indeed, starting from solutions identical to those existing in France (where a legal regulation has imposed that all swimming pools must have a safety device to protect the access to children under 5 years old), Soprefa decided to manufacture, for the first time in Portugal, a system that is the one with the best efficiency/cost/aesthetics ratio, that is, the one that represents the best value-for-money.
There are several types of protection systems approved in France, including alarms, barriers and shelters. Although we consider hard covers to be the best system, we recommend that you consult the studies published on this subject.
These products comply with the NF P 90-308 standard and are approved in France.
These systems can be placed in almost any type of pool, so we have two types of covers (Above-Ground and Submerged), each with the following advantages:
- Effective protection against unintentional falls and drowning
- Additional protection against dirt (leaves, paper and other objects)
- Energy saving (thermal insulation)
- Saves water and cleaning products (reduces evaporation)
- Maintaining a more constant temperature
- Increasing the period of use of the pool (maintaining the temperature)
- Choice of slats colour (from four colours)
- Comfort/Ease of use
- Minimal maintenance
- Handy assembly
- Aesthetically pleasing and not intrusive
Safety
Safety is a crucial factor that we must always bear in mind, whatever the activity we are engaged in. The brand name we’ve adopted, “Safeswim”, confirms our concern in this respect.
Soprefa is your professional to install safety covers for your pool!
Economy
Economy is the other aspect we aim to provide to our customers with the acquisition of our covers.
Concern for the environment and increasingly scarce resources is something we all must consider. The saving of treatment products, water and energy is an asset of our covers.
Comfort
Comfort is a prerequisite for enjoying the benefits of the pool with peace of mind. The ease of use and handling of our systems make this possible.
Our warranties
First, we would like to thank you for your confidence in our Safeswim product. We are sure that it will enable you to enjoy all the benefits of your pool with all the comfort and safety you need. It is a pleasure to have you as a customer.
Maintenance and winterization instructions
All maintenance of the Safeswim system is the responsibility of the customer.
It is advisable to keep your Safeswim clean by cleaning it with water and a mild detergent or food grade scale remover and never with a solvent or abrasive to avoid damaging the PVC slats. Avoid the deposit of leaves, sand, wood, etc. on the cover.
Clean the cover at least twice a year with a high-pressure cleaner and using the products mentioned above.
During the wintering period
- Clean and rotate it at least once a month, opening and closing it with all the recommended safeties (except if there is snow, frost or ice on the cover).
- Beware of ice that can block the cover.
- Treat the water with clean winterizing products.
- Maintain the recommended water level.
- Leave the cover unrolled on the water and, if there is a lot of vegetation around it, attach a mesh, non-waterproof cover to prevent leaves or other plant debris from disintegrating on the slats.
- Do not leave the cover with an accumulation of leaves or debris which will cause a rotting process and the appearance of stains embedded in the PVC slats (this situation is not covered by the warranty).
- The use of a cover allows, many times, to obtain a reduction in the amount of water treatment products so, to avoid damaging your cover (slats and mechanism), please maintain a good water balance by avoiding prolonged or repeated overdosing of treatment products.
- Please also avoid hard or other objects near the cover to avoid accidental damage to the slates and the electromechanical system.
- If you use equipment that produces an electro-physical or electro-chemical reaction, make sure you have a production stop system to avoid irreparable effects (corrosion) on your Safeswim.
Maintenance Manual
- Do not lubricate anything as your Safeswim does not need it.
- At least once a month inspect your Safeswim cover and check the safety, ensuring that all parts are in good condition.
- Also ensure that the anchoring systems and fasteners (straps, safety devices, etc.) are in good condition. A recommended technician should replace any worn parts.
Spare parts or components must be original.
Marking and Traceability
All cover models have a label that clearly identifies the model concerned as well as the manufacturer or distributor, the serial number and the date of manufacture.
This label will be placed in one of the posts or boxes (in the case of above ground), or on the beam (in the case of submerged).
