Maintenance and winterization instructions for your pool safety system

All maintenance of the Safeswim system is the responsibility of the customer.

It is advisable to keep your Safeswim clean by cleaning it with water, a mild detergent, or a food grade anti-scale product and never a solvent or abrasive to avoid damaging the PVC slats. Avoid the deposit of leaves, sand, wood, etc. on the cover.

Clean the cover at least twice a year with a high-pressure cleaner and using the products mentioned above.

During the winter period of your pool cover

  • Clean and rotate it at least once a month, opening and closing it with all the recommended safety devices (except in case of snow, frost, or ice on the cover).
  • Beware of ice that can block the cover.
  • Treat the water with clean winterizing products.
  • Maintain the recommended water level (page 19).
  • Leave the cover unrolled on the water and, if there is a lot of vegetation around it, attach a mesh and non-waterproof cover to prevent leaves or other plant debris from disintegrating on the blades.
  • Do not leave the cover with an accumulation of leaves or debris which will cause a rotting process and the appearance of stains embedded in the PVC slats (this situation is not covered by the warranty).

The use of a cover allows, many times, to obtain a reduction in the amount of water treatment products so, to avoid damaging your cover (blades and mechanism), please maintain a good water balance by avoiding prolonged or repeated overdosing of treatment products.

Please also avoid hard or other objects near the cover to avoid accidental damage to the blades and the electromechanical system.

If you use equipment that produces an electro-physical or electro-chemical reaction, make sure you have a production stop system to avoid irreparable effects (corrosion) on your Safeswim.

Maintenance instructions for the cover

  • Do not lubricate anything as your Safeswim does not need it.
  • At least once a month inspect your Safeswim cover and check the safety, ensuring that all parts are in good condition.
  • Also ensure that the anchoring systems and fasteners (straps, safety devices, etc.) are in good condition. A recommended technician should replace any worn parts.
  • Spare parts or components must be original.

Marking and traceability

All cover models have a label that clearly identifies the model concerned as well as the manufacturer or distributor, the serial number and the date of manufacture.
This label will be placed in one of the posts or cladding (in the case of above ground covers), or on the beam (in the case of a submerged cover).
